Aurora

Aurora Aksnes (born June 15 1995, in Stavanger) is the name of a Norwegian artist and vocalist. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves has been released by Decca Records and was well reviewed by various music websites. She has recorded several high-profile cover songs, including Half the World Away (by Oasis), from the group Oasis) to accompany John Lewis' Christmas advert as well as Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that have been widely praised. The singer gained further attention from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding an attic piano and being awed by the music it could create. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes urged Aurora to pursue music, not as a job or a hobby, but as an opportunity to improve. The Aksnes family encouraged her to compose. Her sources include noted authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love for Bjork's style. In response to her mother's suggestion that her children shouldn't be trying to become famous with her songwriting, but instead realize the importance of themselves and the impact they have on society. When she was six she started playing the piano, and when she was nine, started writing songs. She didn't tell her family about her musical journey until she was fourteen. It was never a dream to turn into Aurora. Her only passion is to compose music. She says that music is her favorite way of feeling anything.
